Descrizione sintetica in inglese	For this position the expected teaching workload (comprehensive of teaching, supplementary teaching activities and services to students) is 350 hours for the full-time commitment regime. The researcher is required to fulfil the program of teaching activities defined on a yearly base by the Department of Letters, Philosophy, Communication.
Descrizione del bando in italiano	La ricerca triennale sarà incentrata su talune esperienze di ibridazione drammaturgica e spettacolare che, maturate tra Settecento e Ottocento, in Francia e in Gran Bretagna, incontrarono grande successo tra l’ampio pubblico europeo. In particolare, saranno oggetto d’indagine le attività artistiche boulevardières, quali il teatro dei Funambules a Parigi, il cui repertorio è contraddistinto dalla commistione con elementi della Commedia dell’Arte – ispirando peraltro anche il laboratorio di Nohant di George e Maurice Sand –, e quello dei Vaux-halls, un’altra declinazione mediata attraverso il teatro di fiera, che migra dalla Gran Bretagna alla Francia. Tali intrecci determineranno a loro volta fenomeni di contaminazione. Queste forme risultano indissolubilmente legate al territorio e alla cultura locale francesi poiché, da un lato, si sviluppano in contesti urbani specifici e ne riflettono i mutamenti; dall’altro, si rivolgono a un nuovo pubblico, via via più ampio e diversificato. Caratterizzati dal rifiuto delle convenzioni del teatro “alto”, dall’esaltazione della componente recitativa e spettacolare, dall’ibridazione di generi performativi, queste esperienze andranno a ispirare anche talune teorie riformatrici d’inizio Novecento relative al gesto e alla corporeità attoriale, e a influire sui gusti e sulle tendenze di un ampio pubblico. Data la specificità di questi fenomeni ancora poco studiati, la ricerca dovrà fondarsi su una revisione storiografica, supportata dalla raccolta di materiali d’archivio, e concentrarsi sull’interpretazione degli esiti testuali, nelle diverse articolazioni. Attraverso i testi, in particolare quelli francesi, si intende recuperare le possibili affinità con la cultura della Commedia dell’Arte, pur nelle sue contaminazioni, e interpretare le persistenze a livello internazionale. L’indagine dovrà privilegiare pertanto un approccio interdisciplinare che non si limiti all’analisi dei canoni teatrali, ma che metta in luce il valore di questi spettacoli, popolari e legati al territorio, grazie ad un articolato sguardo di carattere documentario, storico-artistico, iconografico oltreché socio-antropologico
Descrizione del bando in inglese	The three-year research intends to investigate some experiences of crossbreeding between dramaturgy and performance that, developed between the Eighteenth and the Nineteenth centuries, in France and in Great Britain, achieved resounding success among the wide European audience. In particular, the study will be focused on the boulevardières artistic activities, such as the Funambules theatre in Paris, whose repertory is characterized by the hybridization with some elements of the Commedia dell’Arte – moreover inspiring also George and Maurice Sand’s theatre studio of Nohant –, and the Vaux-hall theatres, a further declination of the fair performances, migrating from Great Britain to France. These intersections, in turn, will produce phenomena of contamination. These forms are indissolubly linked to the French territory and to its local culture because, on the one hand, they flourish in specific urban contexts and reflect their changes; and on the other, they are addressed to a new audience, increasingly wide and diversified. Characterised by the refusal of the convections of the “high” theatre, by the exaltation of the acting and performance component and by the crossbreeding of genres of performance, these experiences will inspire some avant-garde theories of the beginning of the Twentieth Century about the actor’s gesture and body, and influence a wide audience’s tastes and tendencies. Considering the specificity of these phenomena, which haven’t been so much studied yet, the research must be based on a historical review, supported by the archive collection, and must focus on the interpretation of the textual outcomes, according to various declinations. Through the texts, in particular the French one, the study intends to get back to the possible affinities with the Commedia dell’ Arte culture, even in its contaminations, and explain the elements of persistence at an international level. Therefore, the investigation must privilege an interdisciplinary approach, which shouldn’t be restricted to the analysis of the theatrical codes, but should be able to draw attention to the artistic value of these shows, popular and linked to their urban contexts, thanks to an articulated documentary, historical-artistic, iconographic and socio-anthropological view
