| Descrizione sintetica in italiano | La zanzara tigre è una specie invasiva in grado di fungere da vettore di malattie. Il cambiamento climatico ha creato condizioni favorevoli allo stabilirsi della specie in nuove aree ma ha anche influito sulla disponibilità dei siti di crescita larvale, con un conseguente aumento della competizione. Condizioni di stress portano ad uno sviluppo larvale rallentato e a zanzare adulte di dimensioni ridotte, con impatto su fecondità, longevità, capacità di volo, e pasto di sangue, aspetti che possono influenzare l’abilità degli adulti di agire da vettori. In questo progetto, valuteremo l’impatto del livello di nutrienti presenti nella dieta larvale su metabolismo, fenotipo, fisiologia e comportamento degli adulti e sulle loro possibili interazioni ed effetti sulla capacità vettoriale. |
| Descrizione sintetica in inglese | The invasive tiger mosquito is an important vector of disease. Climatic change has created favourable conditions for its establishment but has also affected the availability of breeding sites resulting in increased larval competition. Stressful conditions result in slower larval development and smaller adults, and may affect adult fecundity, longevity, blood feeding behaviour and flight activity, which may influence the ability of these adults to act as vectors of disease. We will assess how larval nutrient levels influence the metabolism, phenotype, physiology and behaviour of the resulting adults and the possible interaction of these parameters on vector potential. This study will permit us to assess the trade-offs and alternative life history strategies the adults undergo as a result of conditions encountered during larval development, and how these could influence their capacity to disseminate disease. |

Il bando con le relative modalità di partecipazione e selezione (artt. 4 e 6) è reperibile all’indirizzo: http://www-assegni.unipv.it/bandi-dipartimenti-tipo-b/ Requisiti essenziali:1) diploma di laurea (corso di studi di durata non inferiore a 4 anni, previsto dagli ordinamenti didattici ante D.M. n. 509/1999) o di laurea specialistica/magistrale (D.M. n. 509/1999 e n. 270/2004) conseguito presso Università italiane o straniere riconosciuto equipollente–ai fini dell’equipollenza i candidati dovranno produrre documenti utili alla Commissione Giudicatrice per valutare i titoli; 2) curriculum scientifico-professionale idoneo allo svolgimento dell’attività di ricerca; 3) eventuale dottorato di ricerca (art. 2–co.1). |
