Descrizione sintetica in italiano	Il tema della ricerca riguarda il linguaggio architettonico contemporaneo adottato nella definizione degli interventi destinati alla conservazione ed alla trasmissione degli edifici del passato. Per linguaggio si intende tanto quello adottato per gli interventi volti alla conservazione dell’esistente, quanto quello per le modificazioni e le aggiunte. La domanda iniziale della ricerca è verificare se questo linguaggio differisce da quello per la costruzione del nuovo, magari nell’opera di uno stesso architetto. Il tema, pur presente in ogni intervento, non è stato ancora studiato, ne minimamente sistematizzato. Grande rilievo, nello studio di progetti significativi e studi dedicati al linguaggio architettonico, deve essere dato al momento dell’interpretazione dell’esistente, chiave di lettura di qualsiasi intervento di restauro qualificato.
Descrizione sintetica in inglese	The object of the research project concerns the language of the contemporary architecture particularly declined in the field of conservation intervention aimed at preserving historical buildings and at transmitting them to the future. With the term “language” we refer both to the language used for the conservation treatments and to the language used for the realization of transformation and new additions. The starting point of the research would be aimed at verifying whether or not the contemporary language chosen in the field of restoration differs from the one used for new buildings, although authored by the same architect. Although such theme characterizes every conservation intervention, so far it has neither been analysed nor it has been systematized at all. The moment of the extant architectures’ interpretation will be the key for understanding any qualified intervention of “architecture for restoration”.
